Another busy week of games for our youth teams. Here is an update on the scores and comments from the coaches.
U15 Lost 3-1 v Yaxley
Update from coach:
An aggressive physical game on a poor pitch, that was always played on the edge. We gifted them a goal before half time after being the better side for much of the first half.
Disappointed to conceded two further goals through errors and a failure to defend well enough, but managed to grab a goal back to make it 3-1 almost immediately.
We had two goals disallowed for a supposed infringement and tight offside call which would have brought it level but it wasn’t to be our day.
U16s NYL
Sunnyhill 5-3 Grantham Town
Update from coach:
With a depleted squad and a makeshift back line we knew the undefeated Sunnyhill wasn't going to be easy and going in at the break 4-0 down that was apparent. However in the second half the lads gave it absolutely everything and although losing the match we won the half 3-1, had Sunnyhill on the back foot and praying for the full time whistle to be blown so lots to be positive about.
I wanted a reaction after last week's disappointment and although it took its time in coming, when it arrived, it was worth the wait!
U16s lost 1-3 to Holbeach.
Update from coach:
Grantham played well between the lines. Unfortunately, the officials for them didn't see it that way.
More good learning about this team following another game full of rotations.
Next week, we are again away at Kidderminster Harriers for our first league game and minimal substitutions.
